Job Description

Company Overview

Our client is one of the premier design/build landscape management firms in the Greater Rochester area. For nearly 40 years, we have delivered comprehensive landscaping services—from concept and design through installation and maintenance—guided by our Core Values: Safety, Quality, Positivity, Sustainability, Teamwork, and Diversity. Our projects are completed by highly trained, professional, and friendly team members who take pride in exceeding client expectations.

We are seeking a Jr. Landscape Designer with Account Management responsibilities —a creative, detail-oriented professional who can assist in the design and execution of landscape projects while fostering strong client relationships and supporting sales efforts. This full-time, year-round role combines design development with client service and project coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Project Development

  • Assist senior designers in the creation and development of residential landscape designs.
  • Conduct site analyses, including evaluation of topography, soil conditions, climate, and existing vegetation.
  • Prepare detailed site plans, planting plans, construction details, and presentation materials.
  • Select plants, materials, and features based on site conditions, client goals, and budget.
  • Perform take-offs, cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for proposed projects.
  • Stay current with design trends, materials, and technologies, integrating them into your work.

Account Management & Sales Support

  • Serve as a point of contact for assigned clients, maintaining positive relationships and ensuring a seamless project experience.
  • Meet with new and existing clients to assess needs, gather project requirements, and provide creative recommendations.
  • Assist in preparing and presenting accurate, detailed proposals.
  • Support the sales pipeline by following up on proposals, renewals, and leads.
  • Collaborate with the sales team on larger projects and cross-department initiatives.

Project Coordination & Execution

  • Work with Operations and Administration teams to ensure smooth project handoffs from design to production.
  • Provide crews with clear project documentation, including plans, photos, and installation notes.
  • Conduct site visits to verify design intent, quality standards, and client satisfaction.
  • Communicate proactively with clients about scheduling, project progress, and any changes.

Administrative & Team Duties

  • Manage Aspire dashboard daily to track tasks, proposals, and project updates.
  • Respond promptly to client inquiries by phone and email.
  • Assist with Aspire software updates, templates, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in weekly sales meetings, design reviews, and company-wide gatherings.
  • Contribute to marketing efforts and community outreach to strengthen the company’s brand.

Qualifications

  • Residential landscape experience required; commercial project experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present concepts to clients and collaborate with internal teams.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to client feedback.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite preferred; hand-drawing skills a plus.
  • Knowledge of plants, hardscape materials, and installation practices.
  • Sales or client account management experience preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Commission-based pay with bonus opportunities.
  • Company vehicle provided for client visits.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance (company pays 80% for individuals, 50% for families).
  • Health Savings Account with company contributions.
  • 401(k) with 4% company match.
  • Life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage at no cost.
  • Paid vacation, holidays, and training opportunities.
  • Professional development assistance and career growth potential.
  • Multiple company gatherings annually to promote a collaborative, “family” atmosphere.
