Summary of Position

The ASTM Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE) was established in 2018 to accelerate Industry adoption of Additive Manufacturing through accelerating Standards. The AM CoE has now grown significantly with a wide range of technically challenging funded programs, a full suite of advanced training offerings, and a large-scale Consortium for Materials Data and Standardization.

We are seeking an experienced additive manufacturing professional to serve as an Additive Manufacturing Project Engineer within AM CoE to help us deliver existing activities and support future growth.

Top-level activities can include (not exhaustive):

  1. Lead technical initiatives in Additive Manufacturing in areas such as materials, inspection, Quality Assurance, and opportunities to accelerate AM through standardization.
  2. Develop new technical programs, as well as supporting existing AM offerings.
  3. Write & develop technical proposals.
  4. Develop new collaborations & support Business Development, including presenting at technical workshops, events, and conferences.

Please note that some international travel will be required for this position, but most of the work will be remote. Applicants should be based in the UK or the USA to enable collaboration with the existing team.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in Engineering
  • 3+ years or more of technical experience in relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in Additive Manufacturing technologies
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Project management experience
  • Willing to learn and adapt with emerging technologies
  • Proven ability to work in a team with good interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter with exceptional attention to detail
  • Technically motivated to solve problems and have the creativity to initiate new ideas
  • Can-do attitude and independent decision-making abilities
  • Passion for innovation, technology, and enterprise development

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years or more of technical experience in Additive Manufacturing or relevant discipline
  • Master's Degree in Engineering (or PhD)
  • Held Technical Signatory Position within Engineering Business
  • Knowledge of topics such as (ideally based on Additive Manufacturing experience):
  • Materials Allowable Generation
  • Quality Management for Manufacturing
  • Certification & Qualification Methods, and knowledge of regulations & requirements
  • Demonstrate experience of leading & managing technical projects
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively with all levels of management and translate them into meaningful project outcomes
  • Experience in standards development and participation in technical committees
  • Experience in writing technical proposals for funded projects
