We’re seeking a skilled Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (WOCN) to join our Outpatient Surgical Services team at the Emory Clinic. In this role, you’ll collaborate directly with Emory physicians and surgical teams, offering integrated care during tandem appointments that support patients through specialized WOC treatment and recovery.  

What You’ll Do:  

  • Provide expert wound, ostomy, and continence care in outpatient clinic settings.  
  • Partner with surgeons and specialty teams to develop and implement patient care plans.  
  • Deliver education and support to patients and families navigating complex health needs.  
  • Act as a clinical leader in evidence-based WOC nursing practices.

8am-4:30pm / Monday-Friday / Full Time / 40 hours   

As we expand our team and optimize operations, we're exploring flexible scheduling options that could include future opportunities for 4-day work weeks (4-10's).

We are seeking a skilled Wound, Ostomy, and Continence RN who has acquired broad experience and has developed a sound understanding about the care of WOC patients.  

 

  • Directs agency-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound care and ostomy care, to include supporting pressure ulcer prevalence data collection, evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols, and advisement of appropriate support surfaces, products, and staff decision-making algorithms.  
  • Develops and conducts educational programs and clinical instruction for Emory Healthcare staff and students enrolled in Emory University's Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program.  
  • Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers.  
  • Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs in respect to wound and ostomy care.  
  • Recommends the equipment, materials, and resources needed to successfully implement a wound or ostomy care plan.  
  • Must meet all Clinical Nurse I Employee Commitments.  
  • Achieves electives and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) system to maintain position.  

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) AND Completion of an accredited Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Education program  
  • Two years' experience as an RN  
  • Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.  
  • BLS certification  
  • ACLS may be required in designated departments.  
  • Must achieve certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care within 12 months  

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Certification in Continence Care is not required , but preferred.  
  • Previous experience in Wound and Ostomy care preferred.
