Nice-Pak Products, Inc. (NP) is the global developer, manufacturer, and marketer of pre-moistened wipes for the consumer market, specializing in personal care, hygiene, household cleaning, and disinfection products. 

We are currently looking for a Sr. Packaging Engineer in our Jonesboro, AR location.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The role of the Senior Packaging Engineer is a critical one for the Nice Pak organization as we look to continue enhancing our innovation pipeline for our private label and branded wet wipes portfolio. The primary role of this position is to deliver innovative packaging solutions based on customer/consumer insights and market requirements. This position will also support existing businesses through packaging revisions, cost improvement projects, and packaging harmonization projects. Sr. Packaging Engineer must bring the necessary technical skills and passion for winning; have excellent project management, communication, and influencing skills, and rigor to deliver packaging innovation projects and related workstream activities in a dynamic environment and on time in full. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

• Understands packaging-related business needs and the competitive landscape
• Develops ideas, concepts, and prototypes to solve problems and meet customer/consumer needs in new and superior ways
• Experience with flexible film and converting processes as a packaging engineer or engineering role
• Identifies need gaps and opportunities
• Leads the packaging development for new initiatives
• Technical interface with suppliers
• Identifies technical and project risks and ensures strategies are in place to effectively mitigate risks
• Creates development and testing plans
• Oversees the execution of packaging testing and trials
• Develops line trial protocols and writes trial reports, SOP’s and specifications
• Identifies key quality attributes for packaging components
• Works with plant associates to gain alignment to specifications
• Creates and revises packaging specifications
• Develops, writes, and validates test methods to evaluate the performance of packaging prototypes
• Provides guidance and direction to cross-functional teams
• Engages closely with marketing, procurement, and operational teams
• Ensures packaging activities are aligned with project milestones
• Plans own workload to ensure tasks and objectives are completed and collaborate as a participative team member to ensure R&D milestones are met
• Makes and supervises the production of samples for marketing presentations, laboratory evaluation, and consumer and clinical testing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

• BS Packaging degree (MS a plus) or equivalent work experience

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

• Advanced technical knowledge of consumer packaging, e.g., flexible films, rigid containers/injection molding, cartons, and corrugated. Experience in package testing and data analysis.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• 5+ prior years’ experience as a packaging engineer
• Experience in packaging development; previous experience in wipes packaging advantageous; developing and launching innovative packaging solutions
• Familiar with prototyping techniques such as 3-D printing; plant/equipment experience
