Officer Position Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Location: Hybrid 3 days in office

Hiring Salary Range: $56,300 - $63,300

POSITION SUMMARY

The diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) associate will be responsible for executing and supporting facets of The Pittsburgh Foundation’s DEIA and racial justice strategy and organizational development. The role will assist in defining and implementing effective best practices that further embed diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) into the Foundation’s culture. The candidate will serve as a thought partner and a change agent in developing engaging DEIA and racial justice strategies. In partnership with the vice president, Human Resources and chief DEIA officer, this role will assist in managing and leading DEIA and racial justice programming, processes and practices that create an exceptional employee experience and drive a high performing, caring and inclusive culture.

The DEIA associate will play an important part in the development and execution of the Foundation’s DEIA and racial justice strategic plan and related activities. They will organize, coordinate and plan administrative and operational facets of the programs. The associate will develop long-term operational objectives by researching and tracking factors that may impact the success of DEIA programs and collaborates with others in alignment with the strategic plan. The DEIA associate is expected to keep current with workplace diversity issues and be prepared to work collaboratively with various departments in the planning and preparation of DEIA and racial justice performance goals, events, programs and conferences to ensure DEIA imperatives are met.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with VP, HR and chief DEIA officer to plan, research, recommend and implement training for staff and board.
  • Provide support to the VP, HR/Chief DEIA Officer and the director of Strategic Projects and Initiatives on the Foundation’s racial justice goals. Research, recommend, monitor/track and execute creative strategies to foster the organization’s racial justice goals that align with the Foundation’s mission, vision and values.
  • Review each department’s goals and provide feedback on the quality and measurement of the goals. In some instances, aid in writing the goals.
  • Meet monthly on each department’s progress towards goal; provide guidance as needed.
  • Monitor progress towards goal and report monthly results to the VP HR/chief DEIA officer and the director of Strategic Projects and Initiatives. • Arrange scheduling of DEIA and racial justice training for all staff by working with the racial justice and DEIA committees. In collaboration with the chief DEIA officer, develop and maintain programs such as organizing guest speakers for “Lunch and Learn” series and handle logistics for diversity event celebrations.
  • Provide support to the DEIA and Racial Justice committees by preparing monthly meeting agendas, facilitating meetings, preparing summaries and follow-up, maintaining resources including intranet site and coordinating initiatives and action items.
  • Collaborate with each department and the chief DEIA officer to create and maintain project plans, keeping in alignment with the goals and metrics established for racial justice and DEIA imperatives.
  • Administer and maintain the Foundation’s LinkedIn Learning staff development tool that assigns training to staff on DEIA and racial justice efforts.
  • Maintain the organization's intranet to reflect up-to-date information on DEIA and racial justice articles, training materials, programs, outside events/training, etc.
  • Support planning and execution of DEIA and racial justice initiatives/programs in partnership and collaboration with the vice president, HR and chief DEIA officer.
  • Assist in the roll-out of policies and procedures related to the Foundation’s commitment to the FISA Disability Inclusion pledge.
  • Track and report metrics, programing, learning as they pertain to DEIA and racial justice activities and initiatives.
  • Represent DEIA and racial justice imperatives across enterprise collaborative work streams that advance the diversity of our workforce and strengthen our inclusive work environment.
  • Build trust-based relationships to ensure diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility (DEIA) and racial justice strategic alignment with Foundation’s strategic and operational goals.
  • Conduct new hire on-boarding on DEIA and racial justice, ensuring new hires are oriented into the Foundation’s racial justice learning journey.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience required.
  • One to three years’ experience working with DEIA programs and training.
  • Ability to conduct research, evaluate data, prepare sound conclusions and incorporate meaningful organizational practices.
  • Cultural competence and a commitment to racial equity and DEIA.
  • Energetic with the ability to put people at ease and feel welcomed and engaged.
  • A high level of professionalism and the ability to work collegially with staff across departments.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, self-starter and reliable.
  • High sense of integrity, confidentiality, honesty and ethics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
