Cardiac Clinics Preoperative & Catheterization Lab
Monday-Friday 6:00am -2:30pm (schedule may vary depending on the day)
Child Life Specialist

• Will be on a team with 7 Certified Child Life Specialists
• Working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team (MDs, RNs, NPs, Social Work, Phlebotomist, Echo Techs, etc.)
• Procedural support and preparation (catheterization, surgery, phlebotomy, pre and post procedure support, etc.)

The Child Life Specialist will be responsible for:

• Participate in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitate adjustment to health care experiences
• Serve as member of multidisciplinary team.
• Delegate work assignments to volunteers and participate in clinical training of student interns.

To qualify, you must have:

• Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life
• 600 hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.
• General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced‑based knowledge.
• Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.
• Certification in Child Life Specialist required within 1 year of hire for all new hires.
