POSITION SUMMARY
The Case Manager is responsible for assisting clients enrolled in Refugee Assistance and Immigration Services (RAIS) program. This position assists clients from diverse backgrounds with unique needs, helping them stabilize and work toward self-sufficiency, and ensuring access to essential community resources. In many cases clients are served for several years. This position may be assigned to work with a range of client populations.
We are committed to fostering professional growth by offering a Case Manager Career Development Pathway . CSS provides the training and support needed for case managers to develop their skills, earn certifications, and promote through the career pathway from Case Manager I to IV.
Case Managers may be hired as Level 1 or Level 3 depending on qualifications.

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT
Refugee Assistance & Immigration Services (RAIS) provides a bridge for refugees (individuals who have had to flee their countries of origin due to the tragedies of persecution and war) and other new arrivals from their former life experiences to the new skills required for success in the United States. Through a focus on economic self-sufficiency, community integration, and a respect for unique cultures, history and traditions, RAIS creates an environment of compassion and encouragement for refugees to flourish.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct intakes and complete needs assessments. Assist enrolled clients in developing detailed plans for achieving employment and self-sufficiency, including completing budgets and Quality of Life scales.
Complete documentation of all meetings with and work related to clients thoroughly, accurately and in a timely fashion in multiple online databases. All client documentation will be filed in the appropriate client or program file.
Guide and act as client advocate in locating and troubleshooting employment, medical and mental health services, transportation, public benefits, school assistance and other needed services.
Administer supportive services and cash assistance as needed.
Aide clients in reducing barriers through teaching classes, developing curriculum, and/or providing training.
Coordinate interpreter and translation services. Serve as interpreter or translator or utilize interpreters or translators as appropriate.
Answer telephones courteously; log referrals. Return phone and e-mail messages in a timely manner.
Provide support in crisis intervention coordinating emergency services as needed.
Engage in coordination with local community partners and agencies, such as schools and healthcare providers.
Manage client confidentiality; handle sensitive personal information.
Submit reports to supervisor as assigned.
Keep informed of staff communications, changes in CSS and RAIS policies, procedures, and new community resource info daily.
Participate in training and stay current on ongoing issues and trends affecting clients.
Must have valid AK driver’s license; must have own insured vehicle; flexibility to work varying hours and days of the week. Must be willing and able to transport clients in personal vehicle.
Other duties as assigned.
This position is funded through September 30th 2026 and may be extended depending on grant funding
QUALIFICATIONS
CSS has a career development pathway for case managers. Team members may be hired as a Case Manager I, or Case Manager III.
Case Manager I
Minimum Education Qualification: High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum Experience Qualification: One (1) year as a CSS Assistant Case Manager, or one (1) year direct service experience or relevant/related experience.
Case Manager II
Minimum Education Qualification: High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum Experience Qualification: One (1) year as a CSS Case Manager I.
Case Manager III
Minimum Education Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, social services, addiction, counseling, psychiatric nursing, or psychology. Four (4) years of directly applicable experience may be substituted for the required education.
Minimum Experience Qualification: Four (4) years experience equivalent to a CSS Case Manager.
Minimum Training Qualification: Counselor Technician Certification, Chemical Dependency Counselor I Certification, or Chemical Dependency Counselor II Certification.
A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered.
Case Manager IV
Minimum Education Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, social services, addiction, counseling, psychiatric nursing, or psychology.
Minimum Experience Qualification: Two (2) years as a CSS Case Manager III.
Minimum Training Qualification: Counselor Technician Certification, Chemical Dependency Counselor I Certification, or Chemical Dependency Counselor II Certification.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Physical demands: Work is performed in a standard indoor office environment. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Frequently sitting or standing at a desk for several hours at a time
Travel: Frequent travel within Anchorage is required. Occasional travel to Wasilla office.
Location: 4600 Debarr Road, Anchorage, AK.
